A first birthday is a truly special milestone, and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than a smash cake photo session! You never know what will happen when baby meets cake and some of the expressions need to be captured and enjoyed for many birthdays to come.

Avery’s strawberry themed party was so adorable! Her momma ordered the prettiest cake and dressed her in a precious strawberry onesie. It could not have been more photogenic. As it turns out, Avery didn’t care all that much for cake. Or icing. And she was completely offended by buttercream on her tooties. She did, however, like strawberries. The real ones were pretty good, but nothing beat the flavor of plastic, decorative strawberries! The beautiful cake only sustained minor injuries, but we got tons of sweet photos of Avery celebrating her big girl status.

Happy birthday, Avery! You have grown and learned so much in only one year. May your next year be full of even more learning and love and laughter.
